BACKGROUND
Aerial view of Superior Marine’s facility site before construction.
Superior Marine is a full-service marine support company founded in 1977. Their services include barge cleaning, general steel fabrication, machine shop devices, and repair.
Superior Marine wanted to offer blast and paint services for river barges.
SOLUTION
Proposal drawing of the all-in-one barge finishing facility.
BlastOne’s proposal allowed Superior Marine to blast and paint the large barges in the same hall. They would not have to relocate the barges between operations.
The facilities could serve both functions to drive down initial costs for the company.
Offer blast and paint services for barge customers.
Outfit facilities to serve both functions.
Prevent additional costs from relocation.
Create low upfront costs.
RESULTS
The new facility offers both blast and paint functions. It is a controlled, indoor environment and services the largest barges on the Ohio River. Overall, this solution lowered upfront costs to the company.
Finalized facility designed with space for an entire barge during finishing process.
Completed blast and paint hall with directional air nozzles.
BlastOne’s scope included a complete compressed air plant capable of producing 2500CFM at 150 PSI.
