Protect Costly Equipment From Freezing Temperature Damage
Protecting your wet-blasting capable pots is essential come the harsh winter months. Like any costly investment, winterizing the water-lines follows the “An Ounce of Prevention is worth a Pound of Cure” advice established by Ben Franklin back in 1736.
These principles apply to any wet blasting system that runs water lines, so you can learn from this insight and simply apply to your blasting system.
Clearing and protecting the water lines on the Schmidt AmphiBlast is simple and relatively quick to do. You basically need two gallons of windshield washer fluid and about 10 minutes time.
Here are the steps to follow:
- Start by draining the whole system
- Close all ball valves – choke – union end
- Regulate washdown regulator completely off
- Prime lines in both blast and washdown positions
- Prime lines until you see the blue fluid coming out of the line
