COMPANY PROFILE

TBEI is a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
A military contract was a major milestone for the company, as it meant they had the opportunity to grow and expand their capability. This required them to invest in better technology, hire more skilled employees, and develop new processes to meet the strict requirements of the contract. The contract also provided the company with the resources to expand its production capabilities, and to develop new products and services.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
As the TBEI and BlastOne teams collaborated, it became clear that they were looking for more than a blast booth provider – they were looking for a partner for the whole finishing project.
CHALLENGE
One of the unique challenges was processing a variety of coating systems on the same line with different curing schedules, fitting the new booths and ovens in an existing building, and tight clearances to building columns.
SOLUTION
BlastOne provided a solution that included building, designing, and setting up a:
blast booth with an in-floor oscillating conveyor recovery
two makeup air units
one dust collector
one wash bay
three paint booths side down draft, three IR cure ovens
one environment control system to connect the existing makeup air unit to the two new ones
a start-up, commissioning, and training package
DESIGNED ELEMENTS
BlastOne designed a blast booth with an in-floor oscillating conveyor recovery, two makeup air units, one dust collector, one wash bay, three paint booths side down draft, three IR cure ovens, one environment control system to connect the existing makeup air unit to the two new ones.
RESULTS
In the end, the company was able to boost its production capacity and fulfill the military specifications.
