Spray painting equipment is subject to very harsh treatment – attack by solvent and abrasive materials, an unforgiving environment, rough handling, amongst other things. For example, airless spray guns can be fitted with different spray tips and filters to suit different coatings. Due to the volume of replacement parts consumed by the Protective Coatings Industry a large “knock-off” parts industry has sprung up. In the main, these “knock-off” are noticeably inferior. Problems caused by these parts include short life, compromised results quality, engineering standards failure, increased risk of injury, etc. Purchase and use of these of these parts is false economy in that they are not really saving you money.

What should I do if I have had an injection injury?
- Many airless spray equipment manufacturers and suppliers will supply medical information cards on what to do in a coatings injection emergency. These recommend the actions for you to take and the procedures for medical staff to follow. Make sure every member on your blast and coat team has one of these.
- Step 1. Seek medical attention immediately. Assume all coating and solvents are toxic.
- Step 2. Take note of the material being sprayed.
- Step 3. Advise the medical staff at the medical centre or hospital that you suspect an injection injury
Throat Seal Liquid is just hydraulic fluid, isn’t it? Can’t I just use that in my airless sprayer?
No, you cannot. Throat Seal Liquid is a specialized fluid that both cleans the rod and lubricates the top packing. Fill the reservoir up every time you spray. Do not substitute oil or other liquids for Throat Seal Liquid.
What is the difference between the various Graco pump packings?
- TuffStack – This contains five packings containing carbon-filled Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
  - Excellent for chemical resistance and high temperature applications
  - Not Ideal for abrasive materials
  - Will not swell in solvent
  - Will not stick to piston
